The futuristic planned city of Putrajaya, Malaysia is undergoing a slew of new development.
According to Syed Farouk Azlan Syed Abdul Aziz, head of developer Putrajaya Holdings Property’s (PjH) services division, an international hub in Precinct 8 is in the works, which is hoped to bring in further foreign investment and an expatriate community. The Central Business District is also slated for further development with more futuristic buildings planned, The Star reported.
Started in 1995, the planned city of Putrajaya today is a virtual world tour of stunning futuristic architecture. With styles reminiscent of India, Europe, and the Middle East, a visitor to the city would be astonished with the city’s beauty and elegance.
One of the highlights is the Perbadanan Putrajaya complex, a beautiful structure recalling the Islamic inspired architecture of the Middle East, according to The Star. With a public viewing area, the complex provides breathtaking views of the fusion of manmade and natural beauty characteristic of Putrajaya.
Amongst these ambitious development plans, one of the major points of emphasis for PjH is that all the new projects are fully on-board with the government’s hopes to develop Putrajaya as a model green city.
Noting his hopes for a 400 per cent increase from Putrajaya’s current resident population of 80,000, Aziz unveiled what is one day hoped to be one of the landmark developments of the city. The Waterfront Complex, a series of residential buildings designed to visually recall a fleet of ships, will complement a nearby cable bridge and Promenade @ 8, an under-development waterfront commercial center which is hoped to become the business center of the city.
Comparing the new developments to the iconic, futuristic skyline of Dubai, Aziz stated his desire that these new developments will help push Putrajaya forward as a city of the future and a model for the region.
